  • CPR Healthcare / Professional Rescuer teaches the skills of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen), use of an AED on adults and children, and relief of FBAO in responsive and non-responsive victims. The course is designed for healthcare providers who care for patients in a wide variety of settings, both in and out of hospital.

Who should take this class? Healthcare providers, such as physicians; nurses; paramedics; EMTs; respiratory therapists; physical and occupational therapists; physician assistants; residents, fellows, or medical or nursing students; aides; medical or nursing assistants; and other allied health personnel.

  • CPR - Adult, Child, Infant is a modular course that teaches lay rescuers how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking for responsive adult, child, and infant victims. Students also learn to recognize the warning signs of heart attack and stroke in adults and breathing difficulties in children. This program teaches rescue breathing with and without the use of barrier devices. This course does not teach the use of AEDs in adults. Heartsaver CPR for All Ages teaches CPR and relief of FBAO in the adult, infant, and child. Heartsaver CPR for Adults teaches CPR and relief of FBAO in the adult. Heartsaver CPR for Infants and Children teaches CPR and relief of FBAO for infants (birth to 1 year) and children (1 to 8 years).

Who should take this class? All lay rescuers, such as employees in the workplace, daycare workers, baby-sitters, firefighters, police, airline personnel, security guards, family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, other lay rescuers, and those who may need to respond to an emergency

  • CPR - Family and Friends is a modular course that teaches lay rescuers skills in CPR and relief of FBAO in the responsive victim. The course presents information about the AHA adult Chain of Survival and signs of heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke, and choking in adults; information on the AHA pediatric Chain of Survival, signs of choking in infants and children, prevention of the most common fatal pediatric injuries, and reduction in the risk
    of sudden infant death syndrome.

Who should take this class? All lay rescuers, such as schoolchildren, family members of patients at risk for sudden cardiac death, and other laypersons who want to learn rescue skills for loved ones

  • CPR - Schools is designed to teach both adult and pediatric lay rescuer CPR to middle- and high-school students. The course presents information about the AHA adult and pediatric Chains of Survival, signs of heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke, and choking in adults. The course also addresses signs of choking in infants and children, prevention of the most common causes of fatal pediatric injuries, and reduction of sudden infant death syndrome.

Who should take this class? Middle- and high-school students.

  • AED - Automatic External Defibrillator teaches the basic techniques of adult CPR and use of an AED. Pediatric CPR may be taught if students live or work in a setting where children are present. Students also learn to use barrier devices in CPR and give first aid for choking in the responsive victim. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of 3 major emergencies: heart attack, stroke and FBAO.

Who should take this class? All lay responders with a duty to respond, such as firefighters, police, airline personnel, security guards, and employees in the workplace; family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death; and other lay rescuers who may need to respond to a cardiac emergency.

  • Heartsaver  First Aid Course teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult emergencies in the critical first minutes until emergency medical services personnel arrive. The course also provides a complete health and safety training solution for first aid, adult CPR, and AED. Optional modules include child CPR and AED and infant CPR.

Who should take this class? Persons assigned to respond to emergencies in the work-place or community as well as those who want to learn first aid, CPR, and AED skills. Some rescuers are required to take this course as part of their employer’s efforts to comply with OSHA regulations, i.e., corporate employees, security guards, airline personnel, lifeguards, and other individuals who want or need first aid training.

  • eLearning - recert on-line option part 1 of the course consists of 12 checkpoints covering BLS skills and written examination which requires an Internet connection. Part 2 is a skills check completed by an AHA BLS Instructor. A skills check fee may apply.
